Landscape hoop art

I’ve been exploring more with embroidery as a fiber art lately. About a decade or so ago, I started exploring different types of quilting as fabric art. At some point, I want to bring that back into this process. However, this last year, I had the opportunity to try a variety of embroidery art. As a kid, I did lots of cross stitching, but my experience was limited only to basic cross stich, back stich, and existing patterns. So here, I wanted to try a few new techniques and incorporate them into something new.

Exploring the Process

This is another project where I’m starting with some existing patterns and techniques. Specifically, I’m working from some starting patterns by Erin Essiambre. I’m particularly interested in playing with her cloud technique and her water technique. So, I’ll start there and then experiment outwards.

Project: Landscape Embroidery Hoops

All this will culminate in me making one or more embroidery hoops inspired by the same themes that I’m exploring through this first project.
